In recent years, there has been an evolution in the practices of the Canadian government on the international scene. The multilateral approach to human rights, the environment and conflict resolution has been abandoned in favor of diplomacy focused on promoting Canadian economic interests and focusing on strengthening the Canadian armed forces. Given the uncertainties, complexities and global turmoil, what should be the broad lines of Canadian foreign policy?
